Biography

Dr. Salman Faruqi is a radiation oncologist at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Oncology, University of Calgary. He completed his radiation oncology residency at the University of Toronto and a fellowship in intracranial stereotactic radiosurgery and spine SBRT at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and is certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Radiology. His clinical practice focuses on CNS and cutaneous malignancies, with expertise in radiosurgery and spine SBRT. He serves as Cutaneous Oncology Site Lead and Magnetic Resonance Medical Director (MRMD) at the Arthur Child, and chaired the Provincial CNS Tumour Team for Alberta (2022-2026).

Area of Focus

Central nervous system (CNS) malignancies, stereotactic radiosurgery and spine SBRT, cutaneous oncology, and palliative radiotherapy.

Summary of Research

My research focuses on stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), with particular interests in brain metastases, spine SBRT, and radiotherapy for cutaneous malignancies. I am involved in investigator-initiated and cooperative group clinical trials in these areas, and contribute to teaching at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and fellowship levels, including national radiation oncology preparatory courses.
