Biography

Lisa Allen Scott has been working globally and locally in public and population health for over fifteen years. She holds a PhD in Community Health Sciences with a specialization in Population and Public Health from the University of Calgary. During her PhD studies she was a Vanier Scholar studying the unintended consequences of public health interventions. Dr. Allen Scott joined Alberta Health Services (AHS) in 2015 and led the development of foundational population health interventions such as the Alberta Healthy Communities Approach and the Healthier Together Workplaces Program.

In 2017, Dr. Allen Scott accepted the position of Senior Scientist overseeing implementation science approaches for the Workplace, Community and Individuals and Families Stream. Her primary research interests surround examining the health equity impacts of social determinants of health on cancer risk, and the utilization of implementation science and transdisciplinary research approaches to design and test population health interventions. In addition to her position at AHS, she holds an adjunct lecturer position at the University of Calgary in the departments of Oncology and Community Health Sciences and is a Scientist with the Center for Healthy Communities at the University of Alberta.
