Karen Kopciuk, Ph.D., is a Research Scientist in the Department of Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Research, Alberta Health Services and is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Calgary in the Departments of Mathematics and Statistics, Oncology and Community Health Sciences. She is currently serving in positions with a number of statistics organizations, including the Canadian Statistical Sciences Institute, the Statistical Society of Canada, the Western North American Region of the International Biometrics Society, the University of Calgary Biostatistics Centre, and the Rocky Mountain Data Science Network.
Karen’s methodological research focuses on time-to-event models and variable selection methods with applications in genetics and cancer. She is a strong proponent of collaborative research – especially through establishing respectful partnerships with Indigenous people so that we can make meaningful progress on the calls to action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
