Biography

Dr. Sasha Mallya is a registered Clinical Psychologist in the Department of Psychosocial Oncology at the Arthur J. E. Child Cancer Centre. She completed her Ph.D. in 2018, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

 

Her clinical work focuses on delivering evidence-based psychosocial care to individuals and families in the Head & Neck Cancer (HNC) and Brain Tumor programs. She has specialized training in mindfulness-based interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBTi), and Managing Cancer and Living Meaningfully (CALM). She is particularly passionate about co-facilitating the Mindfulness-Based Cancer Recovery (MBCR) program for patients across tumor groups. As a scientist-practitioner, she integrates clinical care, education, and research.

 

Dr. Mallya is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Division of Psychosocial Oncology, Department of Oncology, Cumming School of Medicine, where she co-instructs the MDSC 535/635: Psychosocial Oncology seminar. She is a Committee Member of the Canadian Network for Psychedelic-Assisted Cancer Therapy (CAN-PACT). Her program of research focuses on the impact of mindfulness training on well-being, and optimizing mental health after an HNC diagnosis.
