Raghuram, Nikhil

Paediatric Oncology

Clinical Assistant Professor

Biography

Dr. Nikhil Raghuram is a pediatric neuro-oncologist at Alberta Children’s Hospital and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Departments of Oncology and Pediatrics at the University of Calgary. He completed his MD/PhD training at the University of Alberta, followed by pediatric residency, hematology/oncology fellowship, and postdoctoral training in neuro-oncology research at the Hospital for Sick Children.

His research focuses on the molecular and epigenetic drivers of high-risk pediatric brain tumors, particularly embryonal tumors such as ETMRs and ATRTs. His work integrates multi-omics approaches with clinical data to identify targetable pathways and inform precision therapeutics. He has contributed to both chromatin biology and clinically impactful studies in pediatric oncology, including outcomes research in high-risk myeloid leukemia.

Dr. Raghuram is an active educator, with a strong commitment to trainee development and medical education. His program of research aims to translate biological insights into novel, mechanism-driven therapies for children with aggressive central nervous system tumors.

Area of Focus

  • Epigenetics
  • High Risk embryonal brain tumors
