Biography

Dr. Shah treats patients with hematological malignancies and non-CNS solid tumors. He is also a cellular therapy and blood and marrow transplant (BMT) physician, caring for children requiring transplants for a diverse range of indications. Dr. Shah’s clinical research focuses on leukemias, novel cancer therapies, haploidentical stem cell transplantation approaches, and the management of chronic graft-versus-host disease. He was instrumental in developing the TCRαβ T cell–depleted haploidentical transplant program in Calgary in 2018—the first of its kind in Canada. As of 2026, Calgary has the largest experience with this type of transplant in the country. He serves as an active inspector for the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) and is the institutional co–principal investigator for the Pediatric Oncology Experimental Therapeutics Investigators’ Consortium (POETIC).
