Dr. Ronda Lun is currently a clinical assistant professor and stroke neurologist at the University of Calgary. She did her medical school training at the University of Calgary. She completed her Adult Neurology residency at the University of Ottawa, while enrolled in the Clinical Investigator Program, allowing her to obtain a Master’s of Science in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She completed the ACGME-accredited fellowship in Vascular Neurology through Stanford University and was awarded the highly competitive CIHR Fellowship award to support her fellowship training. She has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles, with 35 first author publications. She is frequently invited to speak on the topic of cancer and stroke at international conferences, including the World Stroke Congress, International Stroke Conference, European Stroke Organization Conference, as well as the American Academy of Neurology conference. She was given the Young Investigator Award from the World Stroke Congress in 2025 and has also received multiple other competitive awards at an international level. Her research interests include cancer and stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, and acute stroke clinical trials.
Biography
Area of Focus
Dr. Ronda Lun’s research focuses on the intersection between cerebrovascular disease, thrombosis, and cancer, with an emphasis on ischemic stroke as a major source of morbidity and mortality in oncology patients. Her program investigates mechanisms, risk stratification, and prediction of outcomes in cancer‑associated stroke, integrating clinical epidemiology and health services research to address gaps in evidence that directly affect clinical care. A central goal of her work is to develop and lead clinical trials in cancer‑associated ischemic stroke, aimed at improving cancer screening in cryptogenic ischemic stroke, primary prevention, acute management, and secondary stroke prevention, tailored to oncology populations.
