Biography

Dr. Aleksi is a physician-scientist with triple board certification and cross-disciplinary expertise in cardiology, internal medicine, and oncology. She has completed three fellowships, including two in medical oncology with advanced training in neuroendocrine tumors, thoracic malignancies, cardio-oncology, and theranostics. She serves as a Medical Oncologist at the Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre and as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. She leads one of Alberta’s largest clinical programs for neuroendocrine and endocrine tumors (NETs/ETs) and is known for her commitment to patient-centered care and health system innovation. Driven by a belief that knowledge should empower patients, she has launched several public health initiative, including Alberta’s first NET Awareness Campaign, the province’s inaugural NET/ET Registry, and the first patient Advocacy Committee. She also founded the Canadian Cancer Theranostics Foundation (CCTF) to advance access to innovative cancer therapies nationwide. As Founder and Director of the CCTF, Dr. Aleksi leads collaborative efforts to expand theranostic care across Canada. Under her leadership, the foundation promotes awareness, supports clinical research, and builds partnerships that enhance cancer outcomes and quality of life for patients.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Aleksi is a dedicated researcher, educator, and advocate. She actively contributes to academic development as an educator, mentor, and career coach for students and trainees at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels. Her research explores cardiovascular biomarkers, radionuclide therapies, and clinical outcomes in rare cancers. She has published widely, secured competitive research grants, and presented her work at leading provincial, national and international conferences on oncology, PRRT and personalized medicine.

Nationally recognized for her leadership in oncology, precision medicine, and clinical innovation, Dr. Aleksi continues to shape the evolution of cancer care in Canada. She serves on multiple national advisory boards and guideline committees, co-leads the Planet Canada Registry, and directs the Calgary NET Theranostic Program. She is actively building partnerships with theranostic centres of excellence worldwide to bring new radioligand therapy (RLT) clinical trials to Alberta and strengthen Canada’s position in the global theranostics landscape. Above all, she remains deeply committed to bridging science and compassion, bringing together discovery, technology, and human connections to improve the lives of those affected by cancer.
