Biography

Dr. Tavis Campbell is a Clinical Health Psychologist and a Professor in the Departments of Psychology and Oncology at the University of Calgary. Dr. Campbell is a behavioral medicine specialist with a program of research focused on mechanisms underlying behavior change. This work has produced over 200 peer reviewed published journal articles, book chapters and abstracts, including several behavior-based RCTs in the areas of chronic disease management. Dr. Campbell has held several leadership roles in national organizations including Chair of Care Delivery for Hypertension Canada and Chair of the Health section of the Canadian Psychological Association. In partnerships with both industry (e.g. Janssen, Abbvie, Novo Nordisk) and non-profit organizations (e.g., Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Diabetes Canada, Hypertension Canada), he has delivered teaching and training to over 7,000 health care providers in Canada, the U.S., Europe and Asia (e.g., specialist physicians, nurses, allied health) as well as to several thousand members of the general public regarding motivation and health behaviour change.
