Biography

Dr. Jeff Cao completed his BSc Honours in Pharmacology and MD from the University of Alberta. During residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Western Ontario, he earned his MBA at the Richard Ivey School of Business and honoured with the Health Sector Highest Contribution Award. Dr. Cao was the recipient of the OMA Resident Achievement Award upon return to residency and subsequently awarded the CARO Elekta Fellowship for research at the BC Cancer Agency in Vancouver and then received the inaugural CPQR Fellowship with the Canadian Partnership for Quality Radiotherapy. During Fellowship, Dr. Cao served on the CARO Board of Directors and conferred the CARO Extraordinary Contribution Award. He is immediate past Chair of the CARO Communications Committee and past Treasurer and current Chair of the Canadian Radiation Oncology Foundation. Dr. Cao is the former Lead Breast Radiation Oncologist at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and currently the Alberta Health Services Provincial Breast Tumour Team Lead. His subspecialty focus in addition to Breast is Hematological Malignancies including Total Body Irradiation. Dr. Cao is Medical Lead for the Oncology Leadership and Development Office at the University of Calgary including the Physician Wellness portfolio as a Physician Collaborator with Well Doc Alberta. He is also past Treasurer and current President-Elect of the Alberta Medical Association Section of Radiation Oncology.
