Cuvelier, Geoff

Dr. Geoff Cuvelier is the Section Chief for Pediatric Oncology and Transplant at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, a Pediatric Oncologist and Hematopoietic Cell Therapy specialist, and a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and Oncology at the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine. He has been involved in many aspects of childhood cancer care both locally and nationally, including serving on the executive of the national organization C17, as a co-lead for the ACCESS program promoting access to innovative therapies for children with cancer across Canada, and serving on the National Task force for improving Adolescent and Young Adult cancer control. As a researcher, he has been involved in pediatric chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) following hematopoietic cell transplant, including leadership roles in the Applied Biomarkers of Late Effects of Childhood Cancer study that included understanding clinical and biologic aspects of pediatric chronic GVHD, as well as being part of the 2020 National Institutes of Health chronic GVHD consensus, where he led the atypical chronic GVHD task force. He is the current co-chair of the GVHD committee within the Pediatric Transplant and Cellular Therapy Consortium. He has also had interest in hematopoietic cell transplant for primary immunodeficiency diseases in infants and children, publishing the largest experience with adenosine deaminase severe combined immune deficiency to date. He is the current co-lead of the Primary Immune Deficiency Treatment Consortium 6907 study of severe combined immune deficiency.
