Hui, Jacqueline

Palliative Medicine

Associate Professor

Biography

Dr. Hui am a palliative care physician with a special interest in global health, health professions education, communication and the “art” of medicine.   During her Palliative Care fellowship in 2004, Dr. Hui began integrating narrative medicine into her own practice and until recently this has remained mostly a personal experience of reflection. With her evolving roles in medical education and the lens of a teacher and mentor, she has noticed the learning gaps in some of her students, notably in the area of reflection.  Dr. Hui  is hoping that her learners will be able to develop this vital aspect of medicine during their training and like herself, develop a deep appreciation of its value.  By joining this group, she has been able to collaborate with new and old colleagues in the health humanities field, and is hopeful that she will be able to develop a robust reflective/narrative/humanities course in our palliative care curriculum, while cultivating her own insights into her role as a health professional.
