Biography

Dr. Kirkby completed a PhD in medical physics at the University of Alberta.  This was followed by post-doctoral work and a residency in radiation oncology physics at the Cross Cancer Institute.  In 2009 he moved to Lethbridge where he commissioned the radiation therapy facilities at the Jack Ady Cancer Centre (JACC).  Currently, Dr. Kirkby is a senior medical physicist and radiation safety officer at the JACC, and he holds a director position with the Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists as Chair of the Professional Affairs Committee.
