Biography

Xanthoula Kostaras is the manager of the Guideline Resource Unit (GURU) within Cancer Care Alberta. GURU supports Alberta’s provincial tumour teams in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical practice guidelines.

Ms. Kostaras holds an MSc in Community Health Sciences with a specialization in epidemiology from the University of Calgary, and is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Cumming School of Medicine’s Department of Oncology at the University of Calgary. Her research interests relate to strategies to improve guideline implementation and uptake, as well as the use of knowledge translation strategies to support cancer patients in receiving care based on best evidence and best practices.
