Dr. Roldan-Urgoiti is part of the Breast Cancer and Brain Tumors Site Groups and caring for his patients is his main focus.
During Dr. Roldan-Urgoiti training in Medical Oncology and Neuro-Oncology he became interested in clinical research, particularly in clinical trials design including a translational component and protection of human subjects & ethics. Currently he is leading a clinical trial aiming to enhance immune response to improve outcomes in patients with Glioblastoma and is participating in a group evaluating the use of CAR-T cell therapy in this population. He is a member of the Health Research Ethics Board of Alberta.
Dr. Roldan-Urgoiti also participate in education. He enjoys teaching about Professionalism to International Medical Graduates that come to start residency or Fellowships in Canada and is the Program Director of the Alberta General Practitioners in Oncology Focused Program that aims to train general practitioners (specially from remote communities) to facilitate the care of cancer patients closer to home.
Finally, he advocates for patients that have cultural barriers to cancer screening as part of the Alberta Breast Cancer Screening Program Advisory Committee and the Creating Health Equity in Cancer Screening group (CHECS).
