Biography

Dr. Mona Shafey is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Section of Hematology and Hematological Malignancies. She completed medical school and residency training at the University of Ottawa and fellowship training in stem cell transplantation at the University of Calgary.  Her clinical and research interests focus on malignant hematology, particularly lymphoma and CLL, and the use of stem cell transplantation for those diseases.  She has also completed a Medical Education Certificate program through the University of Dundee. Dr. Shafey is the Medical Director of the Alberta Blood and Marrow Transplant Program and in this capacity oversees cell therapy, including CAR T-cell therapy, for AHS Calgary Zone.
